About Me
My name is Melanie D. Holtz, CGSM and I am a Certified Genealogist specializing in Italian research. CG and Certified Genealogist are Service Marks of the Board for Certification of Genealogists, used under license by board certificants after periodic competency evaluations by the Board. I have 17 years experience in genealogical research and have worked extensively in the Italian records. I am especially experienced in the records of southern Italy and Sicily but work in all regions of Italy and San Marino.
As a member of the Association of Professional Genealogists (APG), I abide by the Code of Ethics set forth by that organization. I have served on the APG Board of Directors and Publications Review Committee and currently serve on the Professional Development Committee. I also belong to the North Carolina Chapter where I serve as Vice-President and Director of Programs and hold memberships in the National Genealogical Society, Italian Genealogical Group, Triangle Order Sons of Italy, and the International Society of Family History Writers and Editors.
In addition to client research, I manage a project to abstract the indexes to the civil records [1820-1910] of two Italian towns, Polizzi Generosa and Isnello.
